Surfers Paradise to THE ISLAND – The Wilderness Day Tour

Hi Folks. Welcome to the one & only WATER’BOUT – specialising in grass-roots experiences of the Gold Coast for the independent traveller. Remote, rugged and relaxed – we take you away from the tourist strips and deep into the ‘real’ Gold Coast – by boat only. A trip to our beaches on South Stradbroke Island and our favourite ‘Jumpinpin’ suits curious travelers & locals who prefer lone wolf adventures and a deeper interpretation of this fragile area. We promise an out-there and up-close experience of our our most charming hideouts and wildlife. A melting pot of tropical, subtropical and temperate wildlife species gives South Stradbroke Island a rich diversity of life – from the sand between your toes to our raptors in the sky. Keep an eye out for green and loggerhead turtles, dugong and bottlenose dolphins on route. We arrive at ‘The Pin’ then it’s a tea and coffee break under under a tarp before heading off on foot. Into the scrub and over dunes we go into what can be described as ‘swamp-meets-desert-sands’ (If you’re a natural wanderer – this is your island). Return from your guided tour to a cold craft beer and then it’s on route to lunch and more.

Part of declared ‘Wetlands of International Significance’ (know as the RAMSAR Convention), Jumpinpin is a major roosting site for migratory shorebirds that depend on it for respite and refuge. Jumpinpin is also home to the golden swamp wallaby (a breed almost entirely specific to the island), endangered birds and rare mammals and a host of flora and fauna – too many to list here.

To WATER’BOUT ‘The Pin’ and walk-about our Gold Coast island beaches, contact us on PH 0401 428 004 or book now. We run whether there’s one lone adventurer booked or 7.
